Having stressful days, sleepless
nights, hectic and tight schedules, beating the deadline of bundled school
requirements, and even adjusting to the new environment are the very common
scenarios why most college students struggle. To be a student is never easy.
Pressures attack you from all sides. It takes a lot of courage, patience,
determination and perseverance to withstand the obstacles that go within this
battlefield.
The first time I set my foot in
Bukidnon State University, I was anxious about a lot of things and pretty
apprehensive about how I might be accepted as a student and how I would fare in
the new environment I was in. The teachers I first met created an impression
that teachers in BSU are very competent. Yes indeed---they are.
To
be honest, I had this scared-and-awkward feeling when I came across the
teachers because they looked a bit formal and quite stern unlike from that of
my easygoing teachers in high school who, most of the time, allowed extra time
for assignments and all other things. But I also had the impression that
teachers were open-minded and it was evident in the way they exchanged ideas.
Having
my first-day classes was both nervous and exciting experience although I was
not so at ease with the presence of these teachers as well as the kind of
teaching method they have. At the back of my mind however, I knew that these were
just mere parts of the challenges in every student’s life.
As
for now, I have already fought the villains gradually and am becoming more at
ease as I adapt to the physical and social environment of the institution where
I belong. I also freed myself from the unpleasant emotions I felt. I have
embraced then the straightforward instruction practiced by the teachers.
I
viewed it as a very wonderful training ground for the profession I have
chosen---to be an educator in the near future. I knew that Bukidnon State University
is an institution that aims to develop globally competitive professionals to be
morally upright, socially involved, and academically equipped for quality life.
Looking forward to be one!
